This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It doesn't matter the time of the school day or what day of the week it is: students are always hungry and thirsty. Some students may be more hungry and thirsty than others. Rather than having them leave our classroom to find a vending machine or water fountain, I am able to provide them with a way to meet their most basic needs and allow them to focus on the lessons for the day.
Besides the educational benefit of students remaining in class, there is a sense of community and trust because my students know they can always get a water bottle or granola bar from me without having to worry about paying for it or owing me something else down the line.
That sense of community building has positively impacted our classroom community.
