Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager to learn how to be good digital citizens and use new educational websites to improve their skills in reading and math. Many students sign up for our after-school programs involving our computers and parents sign up to be well-versed in online learning. For many of our students and their families, the classroom is the only place that they have access to the internet, besides our local public library.

Each of my students come from low-income homes.

The cultural make-up of our students are as follows: 90% Latino (Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Ecuador), 5% are African or African-American; and 2% are Asian. More than half of our students are part of after-school programs that allow them to be active, express themselves on stage, or develop their skills in reading, writing and math.

My Project

These materials will provide my students with the materials that they need to succeed. Copy paper is essential in every learning environment. From copies of worksheets and assessments to sheets needed for young artists to draw and sketch, the materials will be used to support learning.

My scholars are eager to master the standards in reading and writing.

They know that in order to achieve success in any subject matter, they need to practice the skills and strategies that were taught during each lesson. In order to provide scholars with materials to help them continue working on their literacy skills, they need copies of stories, writing prompts and study materials. Copy paper, chart paper and erasers are important supplies for members of any young learning community.
