Singing Poets

My students need 30 copies of Kenn Nesbitt's hilarious book of school poetry called "Revenge of the Lunch Ladies."

My Students

Our students love Kenn Nesbitt's poetry (many written to the tune of songs), but we do not have enough books to go around.

Our students are from a rural farming community.

Our school works with 58 students whose families are migrant workers moving between southern states and Michigan. Free and reduced poverty level for our building is 68%. Our school has made literacy our highest priority.

My Project

This was the first year our school implemented a poetry special into the day. Our 3rd and 4th graders now have gym, music, technology and poetry! My colleague and I are working on developing a 2 year poetry program with a Summer Poets Literacy Club to link the two years during the summer months. So far this special has been well received and the demand from students for more books is overwhelming. I find it moving that our students deeply enjoy poetry and truly believe it is important. Therefore, I am requesting 35 copies of "Revenge of the Lunch Ladies" by Kenn Nesbitt.

Please help our young poets continue to build their love of poetry and support our school in our endeavor to make LITERACY our highest priority.
