Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am so lucky to teach 27 lively and energetic kindergarten students. 100% of the students at my school live under the poverty level and receive free breakfast and lunch. Most of them are English Language Learners. Regardless of our circumstances my students are excited and eager to learn.

Music is an important part of our Kindergarten classroom. My students love to sing and dance! We start our day with a fun "Good morning Song" and review our rules with the "Rules Rap." We have lots of favorite songs that help us learn our letters, numbers, colors and sight words. The latest brain research proves that learning is enhanced through the use of music and movement. The boom box I have in my classroom is old and often doesn't work properly.

An iPod and docking station will provide a great benefit to my students by allowing them to learn from fun educational music. A classroom iPod would allow me to organize our kindergarten music collection into playlists such as: "Literacy Songs," "Math Songs," and "Calender Songs." Our favorite songs will be easily accessible. Rather than wasting instructional time switching CDs in the old boom box, we will have tons of fun, educational songs at our fingertips.

Your help will bring the gift of music into my classroom and to my students. You will make it possible for my students to continue to be inspired, motivated, and engaged through music.
