My Students

I have taught elementary music for 9 years.

I began my student teaching with the thought that I was going to be a band teacher. But, when I saw how enthusiastic, energetic and fun elementary students were in the music classroom, I knew that was where I wanted to be. After my second year of teaching I wanted to grow as a music teacher and learn new things I could use in my music classroom. I began my Kodaly certification one summer and went on to complete all 3 levels. Two summers ago I began my Orff certification. These certifications have helped me grow as a musician.

My Project

I am requesting funding to attend Orff Schulwerk level III certification. Orff Schulwerk level III courses include singing, recorder, playing pitched and unpitched percussion instruments, and movement. Completing this final certification will help me provide my students with many ways to explore music that include playing more complex musical pieces, improvisation, and movement to name a few.

Completing my final level of Orff Schulwerk will help me by stretching myself as a musician.

This workshop not only focuses on how to expand my students knowledge of music, but allows me to broaden my musical experiences and resources.
