My students need help with learning to read and write their high frequency words. These animated and musical dvds can help children learn their words by accessing all three of their learning modalities.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is 100% second language learners and their primary language is Spanish. Most of my students come from homes where there is limited English support. I have 24 students with various learning styles. I have 13 boys and 11 girls in my class this year.
My school is located in a high poverty area and receives Title one funding.
All Student receive free lunch and our school provides tutoring and intervention. Our parents try to help as much as they can and constantly ask us for resources to help their children at home.
My Project
100% of my students are second language learners so having a clear model for reading and spelling High Frequency words is essential to help them in their reading and spelling development. Since they are in kindergarten, having these words put to music and dance with animation makes the words easier and more fun to learn. Having a little chant and song will help them memorize them more easily.
Each child will have an individual playlist of their special high frequency words that they will access during word study groups.
Children will be able to move through their individual word levels at their own pace. I would also show the dvd as I introduce the words to the students so they are familiar before they see them on their own.
