My Students

Can you imagine finally finding success in a course you always thought you were bad at? This describes so many of our now driven and motivated students. Over the last two years, these students have gained a new confidence and outlook on math. They now feel comfortable asking questions, helping their peers, explaining concepts to the class, defending their answer, and even calling us out on our mistakes! We have had the opportunity to watch these students learn to work hard and develop a passion and love for math.

Our school is one of the most diverse schools in Montgomery County.

We work hard to provide each individual student with the opportunities and education they need and deserve! We are proud to not only teach this group of you adults, but to help them to mature and find their place in our community.

My Project

The last two years, we decided to help our students see how math is relevant it the world around them. After analyzing many Ferris wheels, discovering equations, and applying trigonometric ratios, we decided to plan a field trip for our Algebra 2 students. Many of these students are seniors in high school who have never been on a field trip before, let alone one for math! With many fees at the beginning of the school year, many students struggled to be able to afford this amazing experience.

Having this funding will allow my students to have an experience they otherwise would not have.

They will be granted to opportunity to apply math to the real world. They will make first hand connections between the trigonometry we spend the first month of school investigating and analyzing and a landmark that is so close to home! Instead of simply looking up numbers and statistics, they will be able to ride a Ferris wheel and gather the data themselves!
