Our school sits in the middle of a unique, rural city and has a very neat mixture of students. We are a Title I school where many of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Our school also services an Air Force base. Our city is also a government relocation site for Marshallese families due to post-war nuclear testing, which creates a special challenge and opportunity.
This project will benefit all of the students in our school through the student government and leadership program and the activities and events we sponsor.
Our organization is incredibly active in school, community, and state-wide events. Our goal is to use these experiences to foster learning, service, and leadership for as many students as possible!
My Project
Our Leadership Class and Irish Council are very active in school and community, being in charge of all school assemblies, spirit weeks, holiday events, talent shows, Quarter Celebrations, Leadership Days, and a number of other activities meant to foster school spirit, unity, education and entertainment for all 404 students. They also participate in a number of local and national service projects and fund drives that help and support innumerable people. To complete these events and activities takes many supplies and much work!
I also teach 6th Grade Language Arts and these supplies will help to supplement the many lessons and activities I plan for those classes, along with assisting students who have special needs or lack funds to have basic supplies.
For Leadership and Irish Council, they are constantly hosting and advertising events and activities which take many supplies to do, along with the actual activities themselves which constitutes a wide range of needs.
The students need materials such as:
Paper goods, basic office and meeting supplies; Classroom hygiene and cleaning products; Event supplies such as tickets, coin wraps, money box, wristbands, ticket boxes, megaphone, etc.; advertising materials such as poster board, markers, wall mounts, tape, etc., Lesson materials such as colored pencils/ markers, paper, notebooks, pencils, etc.
We are active, we are driven...we make a difference!
