Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic and enthusiastic learners who come to school every day eager to learn! They like to wiggle, bounce, and move while we incorporate many kinesthetic movements and various strategies into math and ELA instruction.
My students come from a lower socioeconomic status where school is often vastly different from their home life.
Often times, students don't have access to many learning opportunities outside of school. Making our classroom more comfortable, warm, and an inviting learning environment would put more students at ease and make school a more inviting place!
My Project
My classroom set up is not a typical one. My classroom follows a flexible seating model, where students have a choice where they work both collaboratively and independently. In order to successfully implement this model, the students need to have storage bins to store their notebooks, journals, and folders in.
My students love feeling like they have a choice in their learning!
When they choose their seat, they aren't just choosing a place to sit, but a learning environment and style. I have seen such a change in my students desire to learn and their engagement in our curriculum. These storage bins would be a great addition to our classroom, and my students and I would be so grateful!
