My Students
One word in spoken language brings about, perhaps, more anxiety and frustration than any other. That word? MATH! If students are introduced to early math skills in kindergarten through non-intimidating play activities, then students will believe that it's as simple as 1-2-3!
I teach the most imaginative, vibrant, and active 5 and 6-year-old Kindergarten students.
Unfortunately, these students live in a high-poverty location. As a result, 98% of my students have limited resources and/or limited exposure to materials that would benefit them academically. Nevertheless, my students have a passion for learning and doing so in an engaging way. However, we need your help. The students' socioeconomic status and the education budget cuts leave very little funding for quality materials to develop their early learning skills.
My Project
My students' academic lives can be deeply enriched by the Math-based project. With your help, our Math Center can be stocked with resources that will help my students learn: numbers represent amounts of objects; numbers are expressed as spoken & written words as well as written symbols; and concepts of counting, shapes, sorting, patterning, sequencing, etc.
There are so many initiatives in place that promote language and reading that math, sometimes, is overlooked.
Perhaps, this is the reason some children are not fond of math. Your donations can make a difference. Quality resources and materials can enhance students' natural curiosity and build their confidence. In fact, math can help in the development of language skills and can be integrated in other content areas.
