This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have been teaching Kindergarten for 24 years in New Britain, CT. As Mary Poppins said in the story "the winds have changed and my work here is done." For me personally, the winds have changed and it is time for me to help some other kindergarteners at a new school in the same district. This is an older school, and it doesn't have storage for kindergarten backpacks and coats. The storage cabinet will not only keep our classroom tidy, but will also promote independence by giving students their own space to put away their backpack and materials.
The majority (75%) of my students come from low income families.
They come from all different backgrounds, but one thing is the same about all of them. They are so sweet and are excited about starting school for the first time!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
