My Project
Our 6th-grade classroom is transforming into a dynamic learning environment where students don’t just read about how cities work—they build them. To make this possible, we’re creating a physical cityscape in our classroom that will run alongside student desks. This project allows students to construct, manage, and interact with a model town while learning about government, infrastructure, public services, and urban planning. With hands-on learning, they’ll understand zoning, budgeting, utilities, and leadership roles in a way that brings social studies and STEM together.
The tools we are asking for will help us build the city from scratch—cutting, assembling, and designing elements such as roads, buildings, and signage.
In addition, we are requesting a rechargeable battery to power portable speakers during our outdoor city council simulations and other events. With your support, students will see how decisions affect their city in real-time, preparing them to be thoughtful citizens and problem-solvers.
I have been a woodworker for over 20 years and I know that this project will give students the motivation they need to work together and build something unique.
