This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students generally come from low-income families that live around the school neighborhood located in the Southeast area of San Diego. Most of my students are African American and Latino, followed by students from the Pacific Islands or Asian backgrounds.
Our school is a unique place.
The school has a great percentage of students with special needs; therefore, our school needs to be equipped with technological devices, lab tools and materials, and other resources that will guarantee that all students have what they need to learn and succeed adequately.
My Project
My students would like to assemble and code two UbTech robots with the purpose of testing their programming movements along a path filled with Silly Putty obstacles. Students will command the assembled robots to walk over "mantle unstable road", and test other Silly Putty challenges in order to assess the stability of the robotic movements and record their strengths and limitations.
For this reason, students will need UbTech robots, Elmer's glue, Borax, food colorant, among other materials for a robot war competition.
We believe that this simple experimental task will not only enhance robotic assembling and coding skills but will also promote how products should be tested for quality and performance.
