My Project
The items that I am requesting will allow me to expose my students to silk screen printing, an art-making technique that they have not yet had the opportunity to experiment with! As an art educator, I believe that it is important for all students to have a creative outlet that they enjoy. Therefore, it is my goal to try to expose students to as many different creative processes as possible. My students are always excited to experiment with new materials!
Silk screens and silk screen printing materials are great to have available in the art room because they can be used with students of many different grade levels.
I intend to introduce screen printing techniques by teaching students to make simple paper stencils, and to transfer their designs to paper using silk screens. I will begin by teaching students how to cut specific stencils (inspired by the season, i.e fall leaves, snowflakes, etc), and once students master the basic screen printing technique, I will allow them to create their own designs!
I believe that these materials will benefit students of all ages, and that the silk screens, and squeegees will be used for years to come!
