Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I absolutely love my kindergarteners’ enthusiasm and determination to learn. They approach each day with curiosity and a sense of wonder, eager to explore new skills and ideas. Watching them take their first steps in reading and grow into confident learners is truly rewarding.
The resources I’m requesting will make our sight word center an engaging and effective space for building early literacy skills.
Sight word readers and flashcards will help my students practice essential words that form the foundation of reading. Interactive games like sight word bingo, memory matching, and magnetic fishing will make learning fun and reinforce recognition through play. CVC word builders and phonics tools will support their ability to sound out and construct words, further strengthening their reading fluency.
My goal for this project is to create a literacy-rich environment where my students can practice sight words in ways that cater to different learning styles. By incorporating hands-on, visual, and auditory activities, these resources will help all students—regardless of their starting point—develop strong reading skills.
What makes my students special is their resilience and enthusiasm for learning. Many of them are emergent bilinguals, working hard to master both English and academic concepts. Despite challenges, they approach learning with joy and persistence. These resources will provide them with opportunities to succeed, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love for reading.
