Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students learning to write opinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or book they are writing about, state an opinion, supply reasons that support the opinion, use linking words (sight words) (e.g. because, and, also) to connect opinion and reasons, and provide a concluding statement or section.
The requested linking words are used to provide support for students with their writing.
Sight words are placed on a whiteboard alphabetically and left there throughout the school year.
Additionally, the requested alternative seating will be used for small reading groups. Students this age often have a difficult time staying seated in their traditional chairs. These "flex-space floor comfy chairs" are a fun alternative and students are eager to be a part of small reading groups when they can sit on the floor on these special chairs.
