Sight Word Savvy

My students need magnetic letters, alphabet beads, word building blocks and sight word mats to work on mastering their sight words.

My Students

Kindergarten children are faced with a huge challenge when they enter school. They are expected to learn the alphabet and learn over 100 words by sight before first grade. Whoa!

I have the most precious 23 kindergarten students from the beautiful state of South Carolina.

They love to have fun, be active and be very hands on in their learning. They get so excited and love sharing all the new things they learn each day! While my children come from many different backgrounds they each LOVE kindergarten.

My Project

I am requesting several fabulous materials that can be used for students to practice their sight words. These materials will allow all of my students to practice their words in many different ways. The sight word mats will allow my children to see the word and then build the word with a picture. It is so important for children to not only learn how to build the word but also understand and be able to use the word everyday. The magnetic letters and alphabet beads will allow my students to build lots of words by themselves! All of these materials will be used in small group settings with teacher support and also for independent practice so they can gain confidence in their abilities!

It is so important for young learners to have access to as many materials as possible to help them build their words.

Right now our classroom is very limited in the materials we have and my students need these to become successful in first grade!
