Sight-Word Savvy Kindergarteners

My students need the First 100 Sight-Words Talking Boards so that they will be able to learn their sight words while working independently.

My Students

I teach quirky, spunky, fun-loving kindergartens who simply adore learning. I've already received an apple, three leaves, a perfectly smooth rock and a dead bug. Yikes.

My kindergarten students are curious about all things fun and all things that are played in game form.

The more games that I provide to the students, means that even more learning is going on in our classroom.

I believe I have several future mathematicians, dancers, debate team members and a couple of talk show host commentators who love using every manipulative on our classroom shelf.

Every student has a zest for having fun and learning. This years kindergartners rock!!!

My Project

Kindergarteners are introduced to over 100 sight words during the course of the school year. It is imperative that they learn these words so that they will become successful readers. In order to make this happen, I flash them with sight word flash cards. The students circle them during the morning message. They rainbow write them during station time. They play sight word bingo at the end of our guided reading time and they read the sight words on our door as they come into the classroom.

Having the Lakeshore sight word games will ensure that there will be a multitude of variation during our station time.

The students will feel a sense of accomplishment when they get the opportunity to work independently with incredible games that will provide differentiation and almost guarantee sight word retention.
