Sight Word Practice

Help me give my students new experiences to practice their sight words in our classroom.

My Students

I teach first grade in a rural area with many low income students. This project is to help create a comfortable, inviting classroom where all students are welcome, supported, and encouraged to be their best.

My students gain experience and adventure through reading and learning.

Many students in my class are learning English as their second language. Many students also do not have access to books at home so they look forward to our classroom library and reading area.

My Project

We are halfway through the school year, and my first graders have made amazing progress. I am so proud of all of them.

As we move forward in this school year, we are still faced with the COVID challenges.

I am creating activities built into our daily routines to practice sight words, reading, and writing skills. These activities will keep students learning while ensuring their safety and distance from others. We are hoping for new new crayons for rainbow writing our sight words. We are hoping for craft trays so students can paint and write their sight words with different materials. We want dot painters to write our sight words in dots. We want plastic fly swatters to play games with our sight words. We want Orbeez to use in a sensory bin with our sight words.

To do this, I need more materials than we currently have in our classroom. The materials in my project will help us get to the end of the year and continue our growth.
