This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a hard-working, lively, bright, and kind group of first and second graders. We learn and work hard every day to achieve our goals and become well-rounded adults. Our school is in the Central Valley of California.

My students come from all different backgrounds and experiences.

They range from English learners who struggle with basic tasks and show large growth to students who are years ahead academically. My students are curious and have a love of learning. They have so many questions about how the world works.

My Project

This Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will be used to purchase a digital sight word Boom Cards curriculum for my first and second grade students so they can have self-correcting explicit independent and individualized practice with their sight words during distance learning.

Sight words make up the majority of the text that we encounter when we read, so it is crucial that students learn these words.

Sight words are so tricky to learn and can be frustrating.

The Boom cards will give my students the practice they need with their sight words during distance learning. It will also make learning these sight words exciting and interactive.
