This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are from the Sharpstown Community in Houston, TX. Our student population of over 1,600 students has a 97% minority enrollment, 94% are economically disadvantaged and 94% are on the free or reduced priced lunch program. The students from our community are proud, hard working and willing to do what it takes to be successful. Participating in extra curricular activities helps keep our student athletes focused on school and commits their time away from things that could possibly keep them from being successful.

My Project

I am Coach Ojeda the new Head Football Coach at SHS in the Houston Independent School District. We are looking for assistance to have footballs for games and practices for varsity and sub varsity teams for the 2020 season. Having enough footballs allows us to practice efficiently and get enough repetitions within each position group. The more repetitions student-athletes are able to get the greater the chances they can successfully perform on the football field during practices and games. Game balls are used at the beginning of the year and as they become worn then they become practice only balls and kicking balls the field goal kicker and punter can use to be successful.
