This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is a beautiful and timely project that seeks to give students the opportunity to read interesting and unique new books that offer new vistas into a character's life. Through reading interesting new children's literature and books on uniqueness, students will be able to discuss the diversity and representation they see or don't see in books.
Students will form book groups and read books then create crepe clay to make models/sculptures of racial justice and representation in the books they read.
Students will discuss the characters and how they are presented as well as how the art in the books reflects representation.
