This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are knowledge hungry adolescents who walk in with strong pride ready to conquer the Common Core. Although this is a new challenge, they know they are well supported! To continue this team spirit, they need organized team sports to participate in during lunch and after school.

My students are 6th-8th graders who have a genuine love for their school.

We have a high attendance rate because students want to be here and be a part of history. My students have a wide range of personalities which includes the very shy to the outspoken. Together, my school creates a perfect balance. As an independent school, we started as only 6th grade and now in our 3rd year we are opening up 8th grade to become a complete middle school.

My Project

Through your generous donation, my students will be able to participate in various team sports during lunch and after school. Students will use the resin deck box to store all the equipment so that everything is safely stored. After eating lunch or after school, students will use the jump ropes to jump individually or as groups while others will use the hula hoops. The basketballs, soccer balls, handballs and volleyballs will allow multiple groups of students to participate in different games simultaneously. Along with student competitions, these resources will also be used in staff vs. student competitions. These resources will help students learn the importance of teamwork. By creating organized tournaments, students will learn to work together and realize that playing as a team is easier than playing alone. This lesson will help them learn that they are not alone in the classroom and when they have any difficulty, they can rely on support from their teacher or peers.

Your donation will improve my classroom tremendously by allowing my students to gain life skills through their participation in team sports.

They will learn what healthy competition feels like and understand the importance of working together. They will learn communication skills which they can transfer to the classroom in the form of group work. Lastly, students will increase their school pride by being excited about participating in these various activities.
