it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 1st grade ENL classroom is a place where students are allowed to take chances and explore who they are while learning the English language. They get excited to learn English and take pride in their efforts to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My Project
The use of big, bold print and numbers will allow my ENL students the opportunity to use materials to support their learning and engagement. Students will be able to practice and demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension of curriculum content areas. The use of the chart tablet will be used on a daily basis in our classroom to brainstorm ideas, model graphic organizers, and summarize stories. It will also assist ENL students to connect their verbal responses with their activities. The math number line will allow students to focus on important strategies and techniques that support addition and subtraction. These tools will enhance their engagement and learning styles.
