Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
One of the easiest ways that students can improve academically is simply showing up to school every single day. The goal of this project is to promote and celebrate students for their positive attendance. When students regularly come to class, they are engaged in the learning, they do not miss valuable instruction time, and they are making progress towards their learning goals. In the past, I have done raffle drawings for students who had perfect attendance over the course of the week. This project will supply an assortment of food and other prizes to incentivize student attendance.
Something as simple as winning a prize really increased my overall attendance.
Students are really motivated by these incentives. They are excited and look forward to the raffles at the end of the week. My favorite part is that the students think the grand prize is a bag of chips or a candy bar, when in reality, the big prize is academic growth and success in and out of the classroom.
