This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love the cultural diversity and multiple intelligences that my students bring to our learning environment. Every student contributes their own personal experiences, interests, and talents that enliven our daily learning experiences.

This school year I will be working with a group of 28 students, eight are English Language Learners, and four are diverse learners with individualized educational plans.

What makes them special is their resilience and perseverance to overcome challenges in their own learning experiences. My students thrive when they are given choice and encouraged to find the answers to their own lingering questions. The greatest satisfaction is guiding my students through their own inquiry and observing their elation when they have succeeded at a task.

My Project

Teaching remotely has proven to be an incredibly challenging job especially without the right resources. Many of my students, especially my English Language Learners and my students with learning disabilities, benefit from visuals. Being able to see images to better understand vocabulary, or to see math problems explained step by step makes a child's learning experience more successful.

A whiteboard easel and document camera will help make our remote learning experience easier and more effective.

In the spring, I had to lean a whiteboard on a chair while making sure to hold onto it with one hand so that it wouldn't fall over. The whiteboard easel I am asking for will allow me to adjust the height, and more importantly, teach my lessons comfortably. In addition, the document camera will provide me with the ability to project books that I read aloud for mini-lessons, project models during my science lessons, and teach math lessons clearly. Please help me make remote learning easier and more engaging for my students.
