This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What else is out there? Let us learn about other cultures and meet students from other parts of the world through Skype, a world that would otherwise be invisible to my students.

My students are 20 eager first graders who live in a low-income neighborhood.

Many of these families lack technology at home and many of them rarely have a chance to visit places outside of their community. These iPads will help them see that there is a world out there. Through Skype, they will be able to interact with other classrooms and places throughout the world. Lessons will become alive and having interaction with others will enhance their learning and creativity.

My Project

By using Skype on the iPads, my students will have an understanding that there is much more out there to see, out of their own "little world". They will be able to meet students from the continents they are learning about and truly see what they are like in "real life". They will see that the world they learn about is truly there and not just in text. The iPads will also be used on a daily basis for math, writing stories, and listening to reading.

Having these iPads in our classroom and being able to Skype with them will open the world to my students.

They will be able to learn from others around the world in real time and will experience 21st century technology first hand. Please help my students see that there is a world out there.
