Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Classroom jobs are as old as time. Students love it, but I want to also teach them how the real world works. I use a token economy (a dollar bill with my face) and pay my students for various classroom jobs they take on. I would love to offer my students the option to save their money for prizes. Students would have the option to buy smaller items right away or save for larger ones.

Earning money and saving it would put into practice the decision-making process involved with money.

I'd rather they learn about the regret of instant gratification NOW versus later. I used to have students use the token money to participate in classroom rewards. I decided that classroom rewards should include everyone, and earning money includes decision-making.
