My Students

My elementary school library is so much more than just a place to check out books. My elementary school library is a place for stories, research, and lessons. Lessons that will encourage students to become life long learners and equip them with the necessary skills to find information!

My elementary school is enthusiastic about reading and learning.

The administration, teachers, and parents are supportive of the library and the role it plays in the education of our students. Because of this support, students are enthusiastic about learning and reading. My students look forward to coming to the library for library lessons, research, book talks, projects, author visits, book check out, and stories. My students are excited about learning to access information through books, reference materials, and digital resources.

My Project

A document camera in the library will aide in my classroom instruction. Currently, I have to walk around the classroom with the resource I am using to show students where the heading or subheading is. With the use of a document camera, I would be able to project the book with the heading or subheading up onto the SmartBoard. All students would be able to see what I am talking about at the same time. Then students could find it in their own resource. A document camera can also allow for more effective student demonstration. It would allow for students to project their projects up on the SmartBoard and show their classmates what they have learned.

The use of a document camera in the library classroom will help students to be more active in the learning process during library lessons.

Many of the classroom teachers have document cameras in their classrooms, so it is a tool that students have grown accustomed to in their instruction. Having a document camera in the library classroom, would allow all students to see what is being discussed in the lesson.
