I teach ESOL in an urban, Midwest district. Eighty percent of my students live in poverty. My students need to be able to visually see images and English text in order to learn academic English.
My students get frustrated because the makeshift screen I've devised is too small! When I wanted to use an overhead projector, I tried to project onto the blackboard, but it didn't show up. So instead, I am currently using a roll-down shade from an apartment that is about two feet wide and it is ripped. With this screen, the projected image is very small and the students in the back of the classroom have difficulty seeing written text. We need a bigger screen.
A larger screen will be a wonderful resource to expand learning in our class. A longer and wider screen will allow me to back up the overhead projector, and allow the students to see images and text clearly.
You will make it possible for my students to have access to a screen that will enhance learning. In today's world, an overhead projector and screen are technological tools that even basic classrooms use.
