This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A Van de Graaff generator would greatly supplement active learning for students by demonstrating the Law of Conservation of Energy in a very real, fun, and exciting way. Students will see that electricity is generated, not created and they will see it transferred, not destroyed or used up. This concept can be difficult to convey. A visual example that is also engaging is excellent not just for a demonstration for students but also as an assignment for them to articulate their learning. This could also be used either as an inquiry project or as an assessment rather than watching a YouTube video.
