My Students
Students at our big-city school have the opportunity to have instrumental music classes five times a week. We see our students every day, and provide school instruments for each one of them to use during class. After being used by 400 students a day, our instruments are in need of a cleaning!
Our students come from many diverse backgrounds, but all share in their love of music.
Our school student population is about 1300 students, with approximately 400 enrolled in music classes. Students here progress through a three-year program of instrumental music study, where they have the opportunity to master an instrument and possibly earn a scholarship for higher education in their futures. Many students choose to come to our school because of the music program, and this project is important to keep these students proud of the instruments they play!
My Project
Our instruments have started smelling like the pizza we had for school lunch! Buildup from food and saliva in the pipes of our brass instruments cause corrosion and "red rot!" We are requesting supplies to help us clean the instruments in our school inventory. Two jars of "spit balls" 4 "flex brushes" and 8 "cleaning snakes" will help us clean out the insides of our horns. After cleaning, we will be able to polish and restore the instruments to "like new" condition with lacquer spray and polishes. Maintenance is the last step, and 10 bottles of brass creams, oils, and grease will keep all of our valves and slides working in top-notch condition. Percussionists will be able to clean and shine their drum shells and cymbals with a wash, polish, and shine cleaning kit. These supplies will keep our instrument inventory clean, sanitary, and ready to make music for years to come!
Many students at our school enjoy the day because of their love of playing an instrument.
Every student plays better with an instrument that is in top-notch condition. With these supplies, each student will be more proud of the instrument, and more inclined to practice and take special care of it. These supplies will last for more than one cleaning, and students will be able to benefit for months to come! With your contribution you are surely encouraging a future great performer!
