My Students
Our scholars are some of the most creative young people on the planet. Many come from Newark (NJ), and surrounding urban cities. For most, this is the first school they have attended with a performing arts class as part of their normal daily schedule.
Our school community consists of adolescents of all academic abilities, and in performing arts class, scholars learn all about the history of theatre, improvisation, and script writing.
They support and encourage each other, with the understanding that they are in a safe learning environment. I have the privilege of seeing them shine when performing a monologue or a scene in the company of their peers, and they rise to the challenge of learning creative works. It is so much fun to watch!
Our performing arts program supports a strong core curriculum, and our scholars benefit by becoming critical thinkers, as well as experiential learners through the arts.
My Project
The FS 1000 followspots we receive will enable my students to be lit in our upcoming musical performance of The Wiz, with true theater aesthetic. Our production will look professional, and each performer will be visible under the lights. The tripods make these lights portable, allowing us the ability to light up any area of our gym.
My students will be able to create engaging and exciting performances allowing them to showcase their creative talent.
The portability of the lights will enable the students to engage and interact with the audience, as well as increase student and community participation. These lights will provide the ability to see what is occurring on stage, and help build my students' confidence during a performance.
