Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a 6th.-8th. grade self-contained special education classroom. The class is made up of many different disabilities all with sensory needs. My students are working at different academic levels and have different abilities. Their sensory needs sometimes make it difficult for them to learn simple skills such as writing their first names or simple words.

My Project

These sensory drawing boards will help motivate my students to form their letters and words the correct way. Sometimes when students are learning to write they lose the motivation behind correctly writing letters and words causing them to not want to write at all. These boards will give my students the motivation they need to happily want to write words and draw pictures in a creative way. The colors and shimmery glitter will help them to want to practice their writing skills over and over again. Writing will become a skill that they love to do rather than a drudgery.
