This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students I support are mostly English Language Learners who come from families of low socioeconomic status. Most speak Spanish and are mastering English, others speak English only. All are struggling readers but are eager to improve and become fluent readers.
To facilitate effective phonics instruction, I am asking for a phonics classroom kit and flashcards to use during my small group instruction.
These items are rooted in the science of reading. They each showcase the "secret" as to why each letter or group of letters makes its sound. This will facilitate my students learning and will assist in mastering their phonics instruction.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
