My kindergartners are enrolled in a dual-language program. They spend half their time learning in my classroom in English and then go to my teaching partners classroom where they continue learning in French. We have a class full of students from different backgrounds and different areas, who speak a variety of different languages at home.
My students are a curious and active bunch who are anxious to learn as much as possible every day!
They gobble up material as fast as I can give it to them and are always looking for more. My students love completing projects and playing games to help them learn and use their new skills. They are working together to become active members of our school community!
My Project
My students are constantly working on strengthening their reading skills through interactive games and activities, but they are getting bored of the materials we have! With these independent centers, my students will be able to work on the skills they need to master in order to become great readers. While they are playing these games (working on their reading skills, shh!) I will be able to work with students more individually to help them even more!
We know that children need to become great readers to succeed in life, and what better way to do this then by playing games!?
Any time my students feel like something is a game they are immediately more engaged and learn so much more. These types of activities keep them learning and strengthening their skills without even realizing they are learning.
The scholastic magazines will keep students interested in reading and give them approachable material about non-fiction topics they are eager to learn about. In kindergarten, it's all about making things fun and interesting!
