This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are all freshmen students who are in biology class. They are living on the southeast side of Chicago and attending a neighborhood high school.

Over the course of their freshmen year, the students grow a love for science!

We hope that their love continues as they go on to college and their future careers.

This project will help 375 students engaged in a heart dissection. Our biology team prides ourselves on giving this opportunity to each and every student who walks into our school building.

My Project

The sheep heart dissection is the most-inquiry based experience in a student's high school career!

Do you remember your high school dissection experience?

I'm sure you do! Our students always remember this experience, and come back year after year talking about it.

The students learn through a hands-on experience. They are able to combine all of their knowledge on the body systems unit and see it first hand with their sheep heart!

This dissection is the reason some students go into the medical field. This dissection is the reason some students fall in love with science. It is the reason students are knowledgeable about their own hearts. This dissection is the reason some students come to school.
