My Students

Schools should be a safe haven for students, but often the evils of bullying take this safe place and make it uncomfortable. The best way for us to change this ever present problem is to give students an outlet to deal with both the problem of bullies and potential solutions to those problems.

Over the past two years, our students have spearheaded many initiatives to inform their peers about the dangers of bullying.

By getting the word out about the problem through student-created public service announcements, posters, and flyers, we are working toward a bully-free high school. Besides these initiatives, students have other exciting ideas for projects. This ABC Family opportunity got us thinking about new ways to reach students of all ages.

My Project

My journalism students are interested in creating a short documentary. In this documentary, students will focus on the positive solutions to the vexing problem of bullying. We are planning this documentary as a presentation on our schools closed circuit television, and plan on using the various editing equipment loaded on the school's computers. Unfortunately, we do not have a suitable camera to execute this project. The only thing missing to make this project a reality- we need to have access to a high quality, easy to use video camera.

Your donation to this project will be an investment in a bully-free school environment.

This camera and the resulting work will ensure the creation of materials that will educate young people and set the tone for future student interactions... both for the creators of this documentary and the young people who will view it.
