Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My second grade students come from a low economic community. They have limited resources at home. Most of them are English language learners with very diverse backgrounds.

My students go through 3 pencils a day. I have to sharpen each pencil in the office because our old one broke down. Our school does not have the budget to purchase it at this time. I also have a hard time stapling their homework packets and decodable books with the manual stapler I have. It keeps breaking down because it cannot handle large amounts of papers. Often I have to use the stapler in the office.

My classroom would run much smoother with a pencil sharpener in the classroom. I wouldn't have to run to the office every time I need to sharpen a pencil. This would save me lots of time. Our stapler is constantly breaking and cannot handle stapling large amounts of papers. With an electric stapler, this task would not only be done faster but would also eliminate the breaking down of the manual staplers.

With your help, my classroom would run much smoother and would have the basic necessary materials for running a classroom. With these 2 items my prep-time would be employed in the lessons of the day and NOT in running to the office to staple or sharpen.
