This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have about 30 jumbo pencils for students to do work, however the pencil sharpener does not work! Most of my students never had preschool and have difficulty holding a pencil! I have bought pencil holders for them but without being able to sharpen jumbo pencils it has been difficult.

For the majority of my students, this is their first time in a school setting!

They don't have a lot of the tools at home to build their fine motor skills. Teaching them to hold a pencil correctly is important...though they can hold a jumbo pencil, I do not have a sharpener to sharpen the pencils needed for daily tasks!

My Project

My students use pencils daily! It may be to practice name writing or to write in their journals. The problem I face is having a working sharpener to help keep them using pencils! The sharpener I use, which dies after three sharpened pencils is not good enough to run an everyday kindergarten classroom!

My request for a sharpener and pencils will greatly benefit my students with the appropriate tools needed for educating our youth!

Students need tools to make them successful! With a lack of resources my students face a challenge! Please help us overcome the challenge by helping with the resources to have a successful learning environment! Thank you!
