This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is full of eager learners. A typical day in our class is a mixture of lots of learning and a ton of fun. I've been blessed with students who love school, especially math! My goal is to grow my students' love for math by helping them to get a deeper understanding of the subject.
I have 11 in person fifth graders that range in age from ten to eleven.
My students come from various cultural and economic backgrounds. Our school is in high poverty, urban area in NYC, in which many families are faced with a low income.
Our school atmosphere is absolutely amazing. Students, teachers, and other faculty and staff operate as one big family. The students are eager to learn and impress their parents, teachers, principal, and community. They go above and beyond each day to make us all proud.
My Project
With how fast we go through pencils and pencil sharpeners in my classroom, please help us get some electric pencil sharpeners to help make sure my classroom has the ability to have sharp pencils on a daily basis! These 2 pencil sharpeners will hopefully last us through a couple of years. This would save student and teacher time. In addition, it would also save the lives of the pencils as they are efficient and don't' waste those treasured pencils! Student learning will be greatly increased because we won't be having to stop and sharpen pencils or dig around until we can find some. Encouraging student learning to continue is one of the greatest tools a teacher can offer, and these pencil sharpeners and pencils will encourage that!
