My students are amazing artists! I would like to spark their creativity by using new and exciting materials in the classroom. Art is one of my students favorite subjects. It creates new challenges for my students and offers an array of final products.
When creativity sparks, it is important to keep the momentum going.
Keeping students interested and using problem solving skills is at the root of our art classes. In 40 minutes, we are learning about artists, ideas, and techniques.
My students, school staff, and student families embrace art as an integral part of education and believe that art helps students embrace who they are as individuals.
My Project
My classroom is in need of colored Sharpie Markers. If there were a fine wine in the marker world, it would be the Sharpie. I have multiple projects lined up this year that require quality markers for the artworks to be successful.
The art projects that require the use of Sharpie Markers are mixed media and are among my students most memorable projects.
One of the projects is as simple as using sharpie to decorate a plastic cup that is completely transformed when melted in the oven. Another project includes creating an abstract artwork using glue to create texture. Once dried students cover with aluminum foil and color with Sharpie. The end product is stunning.
The use of these materials fit well into the Post-Modern Art Period and artists, which is more current and engaging. Students connect with these projects and almost 100% of my students are successful. As simple as these may seem, these projects that require Sharpies give students self confidence and encourage students to be open-minded about creating art.
