This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I worked at a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free lunch. The funding for materials has been decreasing over the past few years. Some years I am able to order a pencil sharpener, while other years I do not receive one. The school orders the cheapest one and it does not survive the wear and tear of an entire school year.

Having heavy duty pencil sharpeners as well as multiple ones will reduce the line that forms when sharpening pencils and would make it so that it endures the school year.

I sharpen pencils daily from a coworker's room. Pencils seem to be gone by the end of the day. It is a constant battle in the classroom to have sharpened pencils. This would reduce the number of distractions in the classroom.
