Sharpen Our Brains

My Students

My third graders are a great group of students! My classroom is made up of thirty eager third graders. I also have a wide range of reading and math abilities in my classroom. My reading levels range from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. It's important that I read with these children every day to get them on grade level by the end of the year. Many of my students are very low readers, speak English as a second language, and get free or reduced-price lunch. All my students will do anything for anybody, especially the ESL students. We are always bringing the best out of everyone. Despite my students' backgrounds, they all have one thing in common, and that is their love of learning and helping others.

My Project

My students need three electric pencil sharpeners to sharpen our practice writing skills. We keep the pencil sharpeners at the front where I can help these students sharpen their pencils as needed. Both our sharpeners stopped working and I can not afford to buy much more. With only two hand held pencil sharpeners we are down to sharpening our pencils twice a week. It takes these youngsters forever to sharpen their pencils this way and it takes valuable time out of our day that could be spent teaching. Having the electric pencil sharpeners will make classroom transitions run more smoothly and the students can spend more time on their class work.

Please help our third graders continue to be prepared learners.

Our students should have a working pencil sharpener. They will be able to stay on task and continue with their education without major interruption. Working in a higher needs community means students coming in without supplies. I need some help, Please help with this! My classroom would benefit so much from having a quick easy way to sharpen their pencils and getting right to classwork.
