This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative and excited writers. Their excitement for writing is evident in the constant struggle to keep a sharp pencils available.
The students in my class come from a diverse background.
Our school has many Title 1 students that receive free lunch due to their economic status. Fortunately, my students do not let their economic status interfere with their joy of learning. I am amazed daily by my students' perseverance and thirst for knowledge.
My Project
My students are sharp! Sharp students need sharp pencils, and my students are desperate for a pencil sharpener that won't fail them.
What will my students gain by having a pencil sharpener they can rely on? A pencil sharpener will allow my students to write amazing stories, calculate word problems, and pursue scientific experimentation.
A pencil sharpener may appear to be a minor component of student success, but the reality is that without sharp pencils my students are unable to pursue their academic potential.
Before I became a teacher I assumed that every classroom had a reliable pencil sharpener. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
Sharp pencils and access to a reliable pencil sharpener are critical to student success. Please consider helping my sharp students become sharper!
