My students need sharpened pencils with good erasers in order to succeed!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Metry's classroom raised $172

My Students
Each day that is spent with our students is a day filled with excitement and rigor. Our class contains a complex mix of multi-cultural backgrounds, varied abilities, and smiling faces. Our students enjoy using the many technological components in our classroom.
This year we have focused on STEM education and Computer Science in the classroom.
The students have participated in many different STEM challenges and began to write and develop computer code. We see the gleam in their eyes when they participate in these activities. This is what learning is all about.
Our school is located in a family oriented neighborhood in Brooklyn. We are a tight knit school and we consider the children in our class to be the future of our community.
My Project
It is often the most basic supplies that lead to success. Without a simple sharpened pencil with a good eraser many of the simplest tasks can't be done. Students struggle with poor quality pencils that do not sharpen. As the teacher, I watch painfully as they sharpen and sharpen and sharpen with no success. I try to help sharpen and the points break immediately. I have gone through 8 electric pencil sharpeners that were purchased with my own money. Please help us stay sharp this year! All we need are some pencils, erasers and a quality sharpener to sharpener our skills!!
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
