My Students
My students are a diverse group of thinkers and learners who come together in the spirit of learning. We are a public, urban Montessori middle school, and, as a school that opened three years ago, we are still emerging and growing as a community. We are located in a historically diverse and low-income community. Seventy seven percent of our students receive free and reduced price lunch.
My students love reading!
They come to middle school with an enthusiasm for their educations and form a strong community. Our Montessori classroom experience is focused on educating the whole child and creating lifelong learners.
My Project
Not many things work harder in a classroom than a pencil sharpener. In order to keep my classroom running, I have to replace our classroom pencil sharpener multiple times each year. Without working pencil sharpeners, my students are unable to be prepared to participate in learning.
With all the possible obstacles standing in the way of learning, a working pencil sharpener shouldn't be one of them.
Valuable learning time is lost when students are unable to quickly sharpen their pencil and return to work. Through this project, my students will have working pencil sharpeners to finish our this school year and start next year strong.
