My Students
We are a Title I K-5 elementary school located in the heart of North Portland. We have a unique population of students from over 20 different countries. 100 percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We try and address as many needs as possible at our school, but often lack the funding to provide the technological resources we need.
Many of our English Language Learners come to our school with no prior education.
The challenge of learning English and building proficiency in content subjects is overwhelming for many of our students. A lack of prior schooling has many of our refugee students completing schoolwork several grade levels behind their peers.
My Project
Our goal is to inspire our English Language Learners to draw a prototype of an animal, artifact, or public place that reminds them of their first language country. With your help and these supplies our students will be able share their culture by bringing their 2D images into a 3D world.
By donating to our project you will help our students share a piece of themselves to their friends and family on multicultural night.
This technological tool will help connect each child's personal experiences into a unique learning opportunity. These printer kits are industry standard printers at a more economical price point. This is due to the fact that the kits come shipped like an Ikea package. They are typically assembled within 5-10 hours of closely following the manual. Putting in the build time would allow us to own a quiet, reliable, and efficient printer at a more affordable rate.
You can help our students share their customs and learn a new type of technology by bringing a 3D printer into our school.
More than half of students from low‑income households
