This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach seventh-grade students in a high needs, inner-city setting. Our school is extremely diverse, with nearly fifty percent living below the poverty line and seventy percent receiving free or reduced-price lunch services. In my class, I have students that are either living below the poverty line or teeter slightly above it. My students are incredibly curious, innovative, and creative. They learn best when they are exposed to hands-on experiential learning and when they can apply the knowledge they've learned in class to a real-life situation.

My Project

There are many great resources online and opportunities to learn collectively as a class digitally. As a small school, our funding is limited, so we welcome any support that we can find to acquire the necessary technology.

My students are looking forward to being able to connect lessons wirelessly and seamlessly from iPads through the Apple TV.

Using this tool, they will also be able to engage in interactive lessons which can be shared from their iPads. Our science curriculum is 100% online, and it would be amazing to easily stream to digital and in-person students at the same time.

We have been fortunate to be able to do our learning face-to-face this year. However, for safety reasons, we look for methods of sharing that provide limited physical contact, and digital technology provides that avenue. Having an Apple TV will make it much easier to communicate through our devices.
