Help me give my students the ability to share their learning with our school community by helping us buy a color printer. A color printer will make students writing, mini-books, and research projects vividly come to life.
Our inquisitive fourth and fifth graders are are developing their leadership skills and exploring topics that interest them. As a Leader in Me school the students are taking responsibility for learning and creating. Many come up with their own ideas and love sharing their learning with others. Our grade level team are amazed at their creativity when we let them explore on their own during our Genius Hour. During this time the students are given a topic like space, and they come up with literacy, science, and art projects that represent space to them. We topped off the first cycle with a star gazing night and a showcase of their learning.
My Project
Our students will share what they have learned with our school community with mini-books, infographics, posters, and magazine articles. For example, when the students write reports about space, the school community will be able to see the supernovas in all their spectrums, instead of the black and white copies we made last year.
The tank color printer will allow us to add colored-coded maps and graphs, use student photography, and student artwork to enhance the final drafts of their work and showcase their awesomeness.
Having color printed reports and projects will increase the students love of writing and pride of work. Our bulletin boards and wall spaces will be colorfully covered with the students’ writing, photography, and artwork. The tank printer is more environmentally friendly and cost effective for our school because it has enough ink for 2-3 years as opposed to the cartridge printers.
